Worthless Chapter 6 Buried Wings Over the course of the journey that had been completed so far, Burn had grown rather fond of Silk. Silk was never really his rival, it was her mistress that tried and succeeded at booting him out of the Academy. But in all the times that Silk had healed Burn, and the times that Burn had cleaved an enemy in position to attack Silk, they had become rather close. So as they sailed in the ship, with Burn taking lookout duty, Silk tried to talk to him. "What's wrong, Burn?" Silk asked. "That Black Belt in Coneria... I killed his father and took the Orb from their ship. I used to work under Bikke. Pamo should have the Orb. He should be traveling with you, not me." "But you're clearly the one who deserves the Orb, Burn. You can clearly dominate him, but you still hold back, you still have honor enough to let him live. If Pamo had killed your father, would you want to kill Pamo?" "Well..." Burn thought back to the "relationship" he had with his father... "No." "Why? What did he do to you?" "That, um... really isn't something I like to talk about these days. It wasn't the type of thing one would like to recall." They didn't have a chance to talk about it anyway, because they were attacked by Kyzokus, but a shot or two of Lit2 took them out. They arrived at Crescent Lake at that point anyway. There were many useful spells there, but they could not use them. After buying weapons and armor they couldn't afford the ones they could use anyway. So they marched out into the forests surrounding the lake to make some money. Eventually they reached Level 14 or so. The warriors bought what they could and found the Circle of Sages, where the Conerian prophet Lukahn was. Lukahn and the other Sages gave them a Canoe and told them that to the north, there was an Ice Cave with a Floater Stone, and Gurgu Volcano, where the Fiend of Fire, Kary, was. They learned that the Airship used by their predecessors, the Sky Warriors, was buried in a desert to the south and that only the Floater could lift it again. Red figured an Airship would be useful and they headed north to the Ice Cave. They thought maybe they shouldn't have. They had lots of problems with enemies like Frost Wolves, Frost Giants, and, worst of all worsts, Frost Dragons. However, they did find very useful items like the Ice Sword, given to Red. When they finally made it through to the area where the Floater was, beaten, bruised, and lacking in magic, they stepped in front of the chest and were attacked by a giant Eye. The Eye left everyone even worse off, but they killed him. They took the Floater, and everyone drank most of the contents of their Heal Potion stash. It took them a while to find their way out of the cave, but they finally did it. Then they rowed back to Crescent Lake, headed farther south from there, and raised the Airship out of the desert. They were all amazed by the sheer technology of the thing, and when they did finally get it working, they flew around in circles, enjoying the sheer exhiliaration of flight. Then they went back to Coneria and stayed at the far cheaper Inn.
